Talking Points:
A last minute goal secured victory for the Dunboyne girls in a pulsating Junior championship match against our old adversaries, Royal Gaels. Played in perfect conditions on the splendid Rooske main pitch, both teams deserve immense credit for serving up an extremely exciting contest. It was nip and tuck from start to finish, with Dunboyne surviving two hammer blow goals in the first half to fight back and lead by one point at the break. Dunboyne pushed the lead out to 3 points mid-way through the second half, but then Royal Gaels took control and looked set for victory when leading by 2 points with time almost up. However, the Dunboyne girls showed tremendous fighting spirit and after sustained pressure, Leah Keogh buried the ball in the top corner to complete a memorable victory. Best for Dunboyne were Rachel McDermott, Chloe Coyne, Margaret Leonard, Deimante Dapkute and Ruth Flood.

ABOUT US

Established in 1902 by Bob O’Keeffe, the hurling section of the club has been in existence for more than 100 years. It wasn’t until the late 1940s that the game of Gaelic Football was properly organised within the club and in 1952 it became known as St. Peter’s GAA Club. Today both football and hurling, along with the camogie and ladies football sections, are thriving.
