Sustainability

The Green Club Programme is a partnership between the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association and local authorities across Ireland, with its origins in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Champions Programme.

The Green Club Programme aims to support Gaelic Games in taking simple and effective sustainability action in their grounds and activities.

The programme is structured around the themes of Energy, Water, Waste, Biodiversity, and Travel & Transport, and is designed to support sustainability awareness and action in GAA clubs and communities.

The Green Club Toolkit

The Green Club Programme is structured around five main thematic areas: Energy; Water; Waste; Biodiversity; Travel & Transport.

The toolkit contains resources, advice and guidance tailored especially for GAA clubs and members. It also contains inspiring, practical case studies from Green Clubs across Ireland.

Our Green Club Actions

Since 2023, Naomh Peadar / St. Peter’s Dunboyne GAA Club has been taking action across all five themes of the programme – from an LED upgrade of the clubhouse to pollinator planting, a Swap Shop for pre-loved gear and biodiversity art from our local schools.
