Talking Points:
The clubs Junior D team continued their unbeaten run following a good win against Clonard in Longwood on Friday night. Dunboyne\'s 4th adult team lined out without a few regulars who were both injured and away on holidays. Some of the injured lads were unable to attend as they had to have their dinner. The game got off to a fairly even start with Clonard having a lot of the possession, but failing to trouble the scoreboard. Dunboyne were able to keep in touch in the early stages through some fine frees from the well tanned Conor Gilmartin following his recent holiday. Dunboyne found their rythym towards the 2nd quarter with a goal from the ever adventurous Conor Rohan, in fairness to Conor unlike his previous scvores this was actually a good goal. Alan Watters was enjoying his deeper role at centre forward, which meant all his wayward shots were not making it over the end line, but through hard work our two Conor\'s(Geoghan and Gilmartin) were able to prevent his shots from going out for sidelines and were able to set up several attacks. Mark O\'Connor who was returning from a thumb injury was keeping very busy and chipped in with a goal followed by an unbelievable nutmeg of the keeper by Johnny O\'Connor. This left Dunboyne ahead at the break 3.04 to 0.07. Dunboyne made light work of the 2 1/2 litres of water at half time and lined out for the second half with four across the half-forward line. This had to change when the referee deemed 2 year old Maeve Reilly too young to play, in fairness she probably reckoned she had a better chance than her auld lad of getting on. Neil Hackett really came into his own in the second half and lofted over some lovely points to keep Dunboyne ahead. It was Hackett in the early part of this half who did most damage to Clonard\'s hopes. Darren Dunne on the other hand did most damage to the pitch when on another one of his now regular ridiculous runs forward, he weaved his way into a shooting position only to trip himself up, falling at the last fence so to speak, much like one of his horses. In fairness to Darren he rolled over onto his back and kept the attack going with a neat handpass while still laughing. Niall Watters was really bossing things from midfield and then started trying to boss the referee. Dunboyne tagged on another goal through Mark O\'Connor and could have been further ahead had Johnny O\'Connor stopped kicking Garryowens from the 45 or if Mark O\'Connor had made any attempt to go for the ball when Brian Watters put him through one on one with the keeper later on. Overall it was a good win on a scoreline of 4.12 to 0.11. Dunboyne have two more games and a further win should see them through to the knockout stages. The support for this team is growing with 7 at the game on Friday night all getting great value for their €5 entrance fee. The team lined out as follows; Paul Brady, Conor Rohan, Shane Moran, Ger Murphy, Fergal O Neill, Darren Dunne, Danny Kane, Niall Watters, Brian Watters, Johnny O\'Connor, Alan Watters, Neil Hackett, Conor Geoghan, Mark O\'Connor, Conor Gilmartin. Subs: Colm Doherty for Ger Murphy, Thomas Watters for Conor Geoghan, Ger Murphy for Fergal O\'Neills, Conor Geoghan for Alan Watters and Paul Reilly for Darren Dunne. Scorers; Mark O Connor 2.01, Conor Gilmartin 0.05, Neil Hackett 0.04, Johnny O\'Connor 1.00, Brian Watters and Fergal O\'Neill 0.01 each.

ABOUT US

Established in 1902 by Bob O’Keeffe, the hurling section of the club has been in existence for more than 100 years. It wasn’t until the late 1940s that the game of Gaelic Football was properly organised within the club and in 1952 it became known as St. Peter’s GAA Club. Today both football and hurling, along with the camogie and ladies football sections, are thriving.
