Round 2 Junior Hurling Championship v Kildalkey.
A last minute change of venue from Baconstown to Dunganny's new pitch didn't disrupt Dunboyne's performance last evening.
Dunboyne playing into the wind in the 1st half and raced into a 4 point to 1 lead. Liam Callanan started the scoring followed by 2 from Neil Hackett and 1 from Eoin McCrudden.
Kildalkey got back level before a Hack 65 & free put us two to the good.
Kildalkey finished the half with a goal & a point giving them a lead of 1 - 05 to 0 - 06 at halftime.
H.T. Score: St. Peters 0 - 06 - Kildalkey 1 - 05.
Dunboyne now with the wind at their backs started the 2nd half with great purpose. A Hack goal after a minute, then Liam Callanan point followed by a quick opportunist Joe McGovern goal had the black and amber 5pts to the good after 8 minutes.
Jason Nolan & Timmy O Connor got on the score sheet with their points. Harry Healy returning from injury hit 2 fine points. Ronan Conheady rounded off the scoring with a point.
Keeping Kildalkey to only 3 points in the 2nd half ensured a comfortable 8 point win.
Full Time Score: St. Peters 2 - 13 Kildalkey 1 - 08.
Special mention to Niall Watters who came out of retirement for the 4th time, giving a seller performance at full back.
Also, the trio of Neil Hackett, and the Dunne brothers, Micksey & Darren, 3 lads in their first year of adult hurling, just out of minor. These young lads have great careers to look forward to, for many years ahead.
Overall a super squad performance, and particular mention to the management.Their decision making on the sideline contributed greatly!!!
