IHC Rd5: Dunboyne 4:24 Kilmessan (2nds) 0:13

Dunboyne finished off the group stages this afternoon in Trim with a comprehensive 23-point win over the Kilmessan second string. This win guarantees them second place in Group A as the championship now moves into the knockout stages. The Dunboyne lads will have to wait until Group B concludes later this evening to see who the get in the quarter final.

St Peters led by 7 at the break playing into the wind, 0:14 (4f) to 0:07(4f). But once Niall Smith goaled in the 16th minute the Kilmessan resilience withered, and Dunboyne completely dominated to the final whistle. Two scores of note worth recording though, Full Back, Evan McCrudden, showed his industry with a driving run up through the center and pointed, Diarmuid O’Sullivan-esk, while Eric Lowndes made his first hurling appearance for Dunboyne as a second half substitute and capped off a fine performance with a well taken score.

Overall, the management team can be happy with the group stages and 4:19 from play today across 9 different scorers is surely something to build on.

Scorers: Jason Gleeson (2:08, 5f); Sean Quigley (1:07); Conor Murphy (0:03); Nial Smith (1:00); Sean Cregan (0:02); Daniel Boyd (0:01); Eoghan McCormack (0:01); Evan McCrudden (0:01) Eric Lowndes (0:01).
