Junior Hurling Semi Final, St. Peters Dunboyne v Ratoath.
The wet morning in Batterstown was no deterrent for the blank and amber against their near neighbours Ratoath.
Playing with the wind in the 1st half, Dunboyne got off to a flyer with a Liam Callanan point and a goal apiece for Eoin Mc Crudden and Ronan Conheady.
The ever reliable Neil Hackett on frees and Liam Callanan with another 2 points, had Dunboyne going great guns. Ratoath responded with some good scores.
The highlight of the 1st half was a fine 40 yard sideline cut point from Jason Nolan. The 2 early goals were the difference at the break.
Halftime Score: St. Peters 2 - 10 - Ratoath 0 -10.
The scoring slowed in the 2nd half as conditions worsened. An early Ratoath goal made things interesting. Points from Liam Callanan, Harry Healy & Eoin McCrudden kept Dunboyne in front.
A Micksey Dunne Messi-esque booted goal followed by Ronan Conheady & Hack points settled the result even with a late Ratoath goal.
The St. Peters backs were the launch pad for this performance, with Jason Nolan & Cillian Smith working hard in midfield throughout.
Full-time Score: St. Peters 3 -15 - Ratoath 2 - 14.
St. Peters were value for their win and now plan for their Co. Junior Hurling Final v Kiltale this day fortnight in Pairc Tailteann.
Special mention to the Dunboyne management, who were cool, calm and collected throughout!!
With our Intermediate team booking their place in the Co. quarter final yesterday in Trim, it's been a good weekend for our Hurlers.
