Adult Football League Div 4 Round 5: Moynalty 0:10 St Peters Dunboyne 1:14
St Peters Dunboyne continued their impressive run of form in Division 4 of the Adult Football League with a hard-earned victory over Moynalty on a scoreline of 1:14 to 0:10 on Friday evening.
Despite the final margin, Dunboyne certainly didn’t have things all their own way. The home side will rue a number of missed chances with some poor shooting, while two outstanding saves from goalkeeper Aidan Flynn proved crucial in preserving Dunboyne’s five-point half-time lead.
Darragh Nolan was the standout performer up front, leading the scoring charts, while Evan McCrudden netted the game’s only goal with a well-taken finish after a precise delivery from Nolan. Youngster Tadgh Brennan also made a key contribution, firing over two quick points late in the first half to leave the visitors ahead at the break: Moynalty 0:04, Dunboyne 1:06.
The second half began slowly for the Black and Ambers, allowing Moynalty to reduce the deficit to just three points. However, David Mahon steadied the ship in the 12th minute with a superbly struck two-point free, which helped Dunboyne regain momentum.
Further scores followed from Nolan (0:3) and Mahon (0:2, 1f), while a crucial late save from second-half goalkeeper Jamie McCormack ensured Dunboyne kept their opponents at arm’s length to secure a deserved win.
