Junior Hurling League Div.

4 Rd. 7.

St. Peters Dunboyne 2 - 16 - Navan O Mahonys 2 - 18.

Dunboyne finished their Junior League campaign with a narrow 2 point defeat, played in glorious sunshine on the Rooske Pitch on Friday evening.

The first half was nip and tuck, with only the Navan goal the difference at the break.

The young Hack opened the scoring from a 65, followed by a Niall Watters point. Hack nailed a free, followed by one from play.

Then the Navan goal gave them the edge. Dunboyne kept the score board ticking, with a Timmy O Connor point. Rory Callanan and Conor Gilmartin got in on the act. By the half time whistle was sounded, Hack had six to his name, 4 of which came from placed balls.

H.T. Score: St. Peters Dunboyne 0 - 10 - Navan O' Mahonys 1 - 10.

Navan got the first point of the 2nd half, then Niall Watters used all his experience to squeeze home a goal from a tight angle for Dunboyne.

O Mahonys continued to keep their noses in front despite a point a piece from Jason Nolan & Rory Callanan. Conor Gilmartin goaled to keep the squeeze on.

With 12 minutes remaining, Our inter county standard referee Darren Dunne entered the fray. Playing at the very corner of corner forward, a golden opportunity came his way to win the game.

In front of an open empty goal, Red pulled and hit the side netting when it was easier to score. He must have been dazzled by the thoughts of his name making the headlines!!

Special thanks to Alan Watters who played his part, despite having to withdraw due to injury but found a better replacement of much higher calibre than himself in Niall Watters.

All thoughts now turn to Championship, only 6 weeks away.
