Junior Hurling Championship Div.

4 Rd. 2.

St. Peter's Dunboyne 6 - 16 : Ratoath 3 - 21.

Played on the Rooske pitch, in front of big home support. This was a game Dunboyne needed to win, to keep their hopes alive in group A.

From the off this game had everything, some great passages of play & as the scoreline suggests, endless drama.

Dunboyne got a great start, a point from Liam Callanan & a free from Paul Graves, then a goal from Micksey Dunne, had us in front 1 - 2 to no score after 8 minutes.

Ratoath got the next 4 points followed by a goal to sway things in their favour.

In a half where they were level on 6 occasions, it was hard to keep up with it all.

Liam Callanan tacked on 2 more points, Graves landed another free. Hack & Rory Callanan got in on the act.

But it was a goal apiece from Graves & the quickest to react Joel Mangan, along with his free & 1 from play had Dunboyne 4 points to the good at half time.

H.T. Score: Dunboyne 3 - 11 : Ratoath 1 -13.

There was no let up after the break, Graves was cheeky, going for goal from a 21 yard free, but it paid off. Liam Callanan & Hack both scored again. Timmy o Connor got on the scoresheet.

Ratoath continued to stay in touch, Hack's long ball in found it's way all the way to the net.

Now we were a 6 to the good with 8 minutes left, Ratoath kept pressing, reducing it to 3. Mangan got another, to give some breathing space.

A mighty 4 point win, after a great hours entertainment. 46 scores including 9 goals, this has to be up there with any of the standout games played on the Rooske over the years.

A super squad performance. Too many to mention, Liam Davis was excellent in goal, some good saves & long accurate puck outs throughout.

The defence were the launch pad for our scores. Rory Callanan averted danger all evening after switching from midfield to corner back, with mighty clearances.

Conor Deering put in a stern shift at centre back. Still Minor Shay Coone was excellent at wing back.

Liam Callanan & Paul Graves were in the thick of it, all through. Hack, again pulled balls from the heavens. Now fully recovered from a blow to the head, early in the game, that would have killed a bulllock.

In our foward line, Joel Mangan, Micksey Dunne showed all evening & Timmy O Connor worked very hard.
